Creative Bucket List Ideas for Hot Summer Days

Posted by Team Funsicle

Hey summer lovers, your favorite season is already in full swing! Whether you’re travelling or spoiling yourself with a staycation, our ultimate summer bucket list guarantees laughter for days and smiles for miles.

Tourist for the Day

Become a tourist for the day and discover the local gems you’ve been missing. This could look like jumping board a sightseeing bus or embarking on a guided walking tour. If you aren’t a fan of groups, go on a solo walk in a new part of town – you’ll soon find an array of exciting landmarks, shops and restaurants to visit. You might be surprised by how much there is to explore right in your own backyard. If walking isn’t an option or the weather isn’t ideal, many cities offer designated sightseeing buses that you can hop on and off at your leisure.

Get the Pool Party Started

Sun’s out, pool’s out! No summer would be complete without a genuine pool party, including Funsicle floats, games and comfortable lounges. If you don’t have enough space for an above ground pool, an adult inflatable pool is the easiest alternative for staying refreshed. Set the mood with a scorching playlist, set out delicious snacks and let the good times flow.

Art Appreciation

Take a break from the heat and get inspired by visiting an art gallery. Whether you’re an art fan or not, spend some time wandering through the exhibits and take your leisurely time. It’s a wonderful opportunity to appreciate art in all its forms while stimulating your own creativity. If there aren’t any galleries nearby, creating your own paintings or signing up for a class is a great way to discover your artistic side.

Take a Hike

Drop out of the hustle and bustle with a hike in the great outdoors. Recharge yourself physically and mentally by tackling a mountain range, forest or even a walking trail nearby. We always recommend hiking with more than one person, wearing enough sunscreen and carrying a water bottle to stay happily hydrated. For trek inspiration, the National Park Service shows detailed maps to hiking trails all over the USA.

Old School Games

Tap into nostalgia by playing golden oldies like dodgeball, Capture the Flag or frisbee golf. Get a group of friends together and set up in the backyard or park for a mini tournament.  It’s the perfect excuse to socialize, snack and enjoy some friendly rivalry!

Ice Cream Adventures

Summer and ice cream go together like pools and floats! This season, embark on a tasting journey of all the ice cream parlors in your area. Create a map of must-visit spots and challenge yourself to try unique flavors you’ve never tasted before. You can also add challenges like finding the largest scoop or the weirdest flavor.

Take out the Trash

Organize a cleanup event with friends and family to tackle litter in parks and beaches. Bring along trash bags and gloves and make it a friendly challenge to see who can collect the most trash. You’ll be making a positive environmental impact while being immersed in local nature.

Experience Live Performance

There’s nothing quite like the thrill of a live performance, whether it’s a play, concert or comedy routine. Summer is always packed full of fun events suited to everyone’s taste. Browse your local venues’ social media to stay updated on when and where you can find all the action.

Market Meandering

Local farmer’s or maker’s markets are perfect for discovering fresh produce, crafts and artisanal treats. Stroll through the stalls and sample the fruits and vegetables that make summer so tasty! It’s a great way to get outdoors while supporting your local community.

Rainy Movie Marathon

Not every summer day will be sunny and that’s totally okay! It just means it’s time to curl up for a cozy movie day while you listen to the rain outside. Queue up your film schedule, pop the popcorn and settle in for a movie marathon.
